The piece brings together recordings and interviews conducted by Ada Hao as part of PAPRIKA collective’s Take a Walk on Kilburn High Road (2022) project; offering a unique insight by giving voice to local residents, sharing their personal experience in time of transition and change.
The piece highlights different locations: Kilburn library (5’08): Where Ada Hao is observing the high road and reflecting on the present moment, while standing in the same spot where this audio piece is now playing. The West Hampstead Women Centre (10’23): Talking to women about their history, their daily life and challenges. Alexandra & Ainsworth Estate: A celebration, and The Arches, Maygrove Road (6’37): Conversations with long-time residents and businesses that have been issued with eviction notices.
Together, they present a diverse and vibrant montage of local sounds, noises, accents and personal testaments.
